Telecom operators suspended internet services in the New Market area after a series of clashes between Dhaka College students and New Market traders in the area on Tuesday afternoon.

Mobile internet services in the area were suspended around 3:15 p.m. after receiving government directives, telecoms sources said.

Mobile internet services will remain blocked until further notice.

More than 30 people, including journalists and students, were injured on Tuesday as Dhaka College students locked themselves in a series of renewed clashes with traders from New Market at the Nilkhet intersection in the city.

The whole area turned into a battlefield after a new clash broke out between them around 10am following a clash at midnight on Monday.
