Mobile phone service was again cut in some communes, including Monywa in the Sagaing region

Mobile phone services were temporarily shut down in some townships in the Sagaing region, including Monywa, on May 29 and 30, according to local sources.

Telephone lines were cut from the morning of May 29 until 4 p.m. in Salingyi, Yinmabin, Pale and Kani, including Monywa township, where the Sagaing region government office is located. Phone lines were temporarily reopened after 4 p.m., but were disconnected around 11 p.m. and reopened at 4 p.m. on May 30, residents said.

“On May 29, telephone lines in Monywa were cut early in the morning and reopened after 4 p.m. Phone lines went down again around 11 p.m. on May 29 and reopened at 4 p.m. on May 30. Wi-Fi Internet access is available. Only the telephone lines were cut. I don’t know why the phone lines were cut,” said a resident of Monywa.

In some townships, including Monywa, where the Sagaing region government sits, all telephone lines were cut from morning to evening on May 29 and services resumed at 4 p.m. on May 30.

In May, communication lines and internet lines were cut in some townships in the Sagaing region, including Monywa on May 24, 29 and 30, according to residents.

In Sagaing region, internet lines were cut in all townships except Sagaing, Monywa, Shwebo, Kalay and Naga Autonomous Region, according to residents.
