No mobile service in parts of Karachi

KARACHI: Mobile services were suspended in parts of Karachi on Saturday morning due to Eid Milad un Nabiwhich falls tomorrow (Sunday).

According to a spokesperson for the Pakistan Telecommunications Authority, mobile services have been shut down in various parts of the city due to Security reasons on 11 and 12 Rabi ul Awal in accordance with government orders.

The suspension was reported in Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Defense Housing Authority, Saddar, Nazimabad and a few other localities.

Rabi ul Awal 12 is a public holiday.

Muslims in Pakistan and around the world commemorate 12 Rabi ul Awal as the birthday of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

The streets of Pakistan are bathed in colorful lights just as the sighting of the moon marks the first day of the holy month with celebrations taking place throughout the month.

People illuminate streets, buildings and mosques across the country with beautiful lights and streamers to celebrate the auspicious occasion.

Each year the government, religious organizations, milad committees and individuals plan a large number of activities, including processions, seminars, lectures and discussion programs to mark the annual event.
