The number of mobile phone service subscribers in Egypt decreased during the 1st quarter of 2022: Ministry
The Egyptian Ministry of Communications and Information Technology revealed a decrease in the number of mobile phone subscribers from January to March 2022, reaching 94.1 million subscribers, compared to around 99.8 million during the same period last year, a decline of approximately 5.6%.
The data showed that the number of mobile phone service subscribers per 100 inhabitants stood at around 90.40% from January to March 2022, compared to around 97.5% last year.
According to recent data, the number of fixed-line subscribers reached about 11.17 million, compared to about 10.05 million in the same period last year, an increase of about 11.24%.
The report said the number of landline subscribers per 100 people stood at 10.73%, compared to around 7.45% in the same period last year.
The number of mobile Internet users reached around 64.5 million subscribers during the period from January to March 2022, compared to around 57.2 million during the same period last year.
USB modem subscribers reached approximately 2.19 million subscribers, compared to approximately 3.26 million last year, a decline of 32.7%.
The report indicates that the number of ADSL broadband Internet subscribers increased to 10.34 million during the same period, compared to approximately 9.26 subscribers, an increase of 11.6%.
The mobile phone penetration rate reached around 90.40% at the end of the period between January and March, while the fixed-line penetration rate was around 10.73%, and the number of lines fixed telephone lines reached approximately 11.17 million lines between January and March.
