The number of mobile phone subscribers in Serbia increases by 2.95% in 2021

BELGRADE (Serbia), March 21 (SeeNews) – The number of mobile subscribers in Serbia increased by 2.95% to reach 8.5 million in 2021, according to data from the country’s telecommunications regulator.

However, in the last quarter of the year alone, the number of mobile phone subscribers fell slightly since at the end of September it stood at 8.67 million, figures published on the website of the Regulatory Agency electronic communications and post (Ratel). shown earlier this month.

Serbia, with a population of around 7 million, has three operators active in the mobile segment – Telekom Srbija, A1 Srbija, formerly known as Vip Mobile, and Yettel, formerly known as Telenor.

Telekom Srbija held 43.38% of the total number of subscribers at the end of December, followed by Yettel with 31.53% and A1 with 24.35%.

The number of landline users fell by 1.66% to 2.37 million in 2021. At the end of September, it stood at 2.38 million.

Serbia’s media content subscribers numbered 2.15 million at the end of December, up from 2.12 million in December 2020.

The main platform for delivering radio and TV programs to end users in Serbia was digital cable TV with a market share of 49.6%, followed by IPTV and analogue DTH with 26.3 % and 15.8%, respectively. Analog CATV held a market share of 2.9% compared to an 11% share recorded in December 2020.

In total, 44.8% of fixed broadband Internet access subscribers used a cable connection, followed by xDSL and FTTx connections with 29.7% and 19.6% respectively.
